setup guide · ~10 minutes

Get her
up and running.

No technical knowledge needed. If you can sign into IMVU, you can set up MIRA. Follow this in order; each step takes a minute or two.

step 01

Install the app.

After you receive your trial email, click the download link. Windows may show a one-time "unrecognized publisher" warning — choose More info → Run anyway. Installation takes about thirty seconds.

Where she lives once installed

MIRA runs as a small tray icon in the bottom-right of your screen. Right-click it to bring up her menu (force online, bring home, open dashboard, quit).

step 02

Make her IMVU account.

MIRA is a second IMVU account — not your main one. Sign up at imvu.com with any email you control and pick a name you'd like her to have (like "RoomCat" or "MyHostBot"). Use a unique password — you'll paste it into MIRA once and then forget about it.

step 03

Sign her in.

Right-click the tray icon and open the dashboard. On the Setup tab, fill in two things and click Save:

Bot username
Her IMVU username (not yours)
Bot password
Her IMVU password (not yours)

She'll connect within a few seconds. You'll see her status flip to online in the top-right corner of the dashboard.

step 04

Pick her home room.

Her home room is wherever she sits when no one needs her. Usually you set this to your own personal room so she's there when you log in.

  1. In IMVU, open the room you want her to call home.
  2. Look at the URL or the room title bar — it has a number like 123456789-7. Copy that.
  3. Paste it into Home room ID on the Setup tab. Save.

From now on, MIRA will return to that room any time she finishes a visit.

step 05

Let your friends invite her.

By default, only you can invite MIRA to a room. To let someone else (a co-host, a friend, a regular) invite her, type this in any room she's in:

!allow theirIMVUusername

Now that person can right-click her in IMVU and choose Invite to room — she'll show up within thirty seconds. To take someone off the list, run !deny theirIMVUusername. To see who's on the list, !allowed.

step 06

Day-to-day in chat.

These are the only commands worth remembering. The rest are listed if you type !help.

Music

  • !request <song> — she queues it on the room's radio
  • !queue — what's coming up
  • !skip — owner / mods only

Games

  • !td — picks truth or dare for whoever ran it
  • !td @someone — picks for them instead
  • !pickone — random person in the room

Owner-only

  • !gohome — leave current room, return to home
  • !leave — leave current room, stay roomless
  • !allow / !deny / !allowed — manage who can invite her

step 07

The dashboard.

Right-click the tray icon → Open dashboard. Three tabs:

Live log
Every greeting, song request, command — in real time. Helpful for seeing what she's doing while you're not in the room.
Rooms
Current room shown at the top. Bring Mira home button forces her back. Force online wakes her up if she's been idle.
Setup
Everything from steps 03–04. You shouldn't need to come back here after first setup.

step 08

If something feels off.

That's it. Open
a room and say hi.
